ASTROLOGICAL REVELATION
KP ASTROLOGY
KP Astrology, or Krishnamurti Paddhati, is a system of astrology developed by Late K. S. Krishnamurti. It gives particular importance to Nakshatras, Star Lords, Sub-Lords, house cusps and significators for analysing specific life events and their timing.
KP Astrology is traditionally used for detailed analysis of matters such as career, employment, marriage, relationships, education, children, finance, business, property, travel and other important areas of life.
1. HOW KP ASTROLOGY IS SEEN
A KP analysis normally begins with accurate birth details:
- Date of Birth
- Exact Time of Birth
- Place of Birth
Accurate birth time is particularly important because house cusps and their Sub-Lords can change with small changes in birth time.
Basic KP Structure
- KP Ayanamsa
- Placidus House Cusps
- 12 Houses
- 12 Zodiac Signs
- 27 Nakshatras
- Sign Lord
- Star Lord
- Sub-Lord
- Sub-Sub Lord
- House Significators
- Cuspal Sub-Lord
- Ruling Planets
- Dasha, Bhukti and Antara
- Planetary Transits
2. KP AYANAMSA
KP Astrology uses its own ayanamsa convention for calculating the sidereal positions of planets and house cusps. Because KP uses very fine Sub-Lord divisions, the calculation method and exact planetary degrees are important.
3. PLACIDUS HOUSE CUSPS
KP Astrology traditionally gives special importance to the exact degree of each house cusp. The Placidus house system is commonly used in KP calculations. Unlike a simple whole-sign approach, the house cusps can fall at different degrees and therefore need to be calculated from the exact birth time and place.
Each of the 12 house cusps is examined through its Sign Lord, Star Lord, Sub-Lord and, where required, Sub-Sub Lord.
4. SIGN LORD, STAR LORD & SUB-LORD
Sign Lord
The Sign Lord is the planet ruling the zodiac sign in which a planet or cusp is located.
Star Lord
The Star Lord is the planet ruling the Nakshatra occupied by the planet or cusp. In KP analysis, the Star Lord is given major importance when identifying the houses whose results a planet can signify.
Sub-Lord
Each Nakshatra is further divided into nine unequal Sub divisions based on Vimshottari Dasha proportions. The planet ruling the relevant subdivision is called the Sub-Lord.
The Sub-Lord receives particular importance in KP judgement because it is used to assess whether the relevant house promise is supported.
Sub-Sub Lord
The Sub-Sub Lord provides a further refinement and can be used in advanced analysis and timing.
5. THE 12 HOUSES IN KP ASTROLOGY
| House | Traditional Areas |

| 1st | Self, personality, body and general life direction |
| 2nd | Family, wealth, speech and accumulated resources |
| 3rd | Communication, courage, skills and younger siblings |
| 4th | Home, property, education, mother and emotional foundations |
| 5th | Education, creativity, children, intelligence and romance |
| 6th | Service, employment, competition, debts and disputes |
| 7th | Marriage, partnership and public relationships |
| 8th | Transformation, uncertainty, joint resources and hidden matters |
| 9th | Higher learning, long-distance travel, belief and fortune |
| 10th | Career, profession, status and public responsibilities |
| 11th | Gains, fulfilment of desires, networks and achievements |
| 12th | Expenses, isolation, foreign connections and withdrawal |
6. KP SIGNIFICATORS
A major part of KP analysis is identifying the planets that signify the houses connected with the question being asked.
The analysis can consider a planet’s own house placement, ownership and, especially, the houses connected through its Star Lord. The resulting significators are then compared with the houses relevant to the particular event.
Why Significators Matter
For example, if the question concerns career, the astrologer examines the significators connected with the relevant career houses rather than judging one planet in isolation.
7. CUSPAL SUB-LORD (CSL)
The Sub-Lord of a house cusp is called the Cuspal Sub-Lord (CSL). In KP practice, the CSL is an important factor when examining whether the matter represented by that house is supported by the horoscope.
For example, for marriage analysis the 7th cusp is examined. For career, the 10th cusp receives particular attention. The relevant cusp is studied along with its Star Lord, Sub-Lord and significators.
8. IMPORTANT KP HOUSE COMBINATIONS
| Matter | Commonly Examined Houses |
|---|---|
| Marriage | 2, 7, 11 |
| Career / Job | 2, 6, 10, 11 |
| Business | 2, 7, 10, 11 |
| Education | 4, 5, 9 |
| Children | 2, 5, 11 |
| Property | 4, 11 |
| Foreign Travel / Connection | 3, 9, 12 |
These house combinations are traditional KP interpretive frameworks and are examined together with the complete chart rather than in isolation.
9. HOW KP ANALYSIS IS DONE — STEP BY STEP
- Collect accurate date, time and place of birth.
- Calculate the KP horoscope using the relevant KP calculation settings.
- Examine the 12 Placidus house cusps.
- Identify the Sign Lord, Star Lord and Sub-Lord of the relevant cusp.
- Identify the relevant house significators.
- Examine the Cuspal Sub-Lord connected with the question.
- Check whether the significators support the relevant house combination.
- Examine the running Vimshottari Dasha, Bhukti and Antara.
- Check the relevant Ruling Planets where applicable.
- Use planetary transits as an additional timing consideration.
10. DASHA, BHUKTI & ANTARA
KP practitioners may use the Vimshottari Dasha sequence to examine the timing of events. The running Mahadasha, Bhukti and Antara planets are compared with the significators of the houses relevant to the question.
The purpose is to identify periods in which the relevant house significations are activated.
11. RULING PLANETS (RP)
Ruling Planets are used in KP analysis particularly for the moment of judgement and in horary/prashna work. Depending on the KP method being followed, factors connected with the Ascendant, Moon and weekday ruler are examined.
Ruling Planets can also be used as an additional consideration in event timing and birth-time rectification.
12. KP TRANSIT ANALYSIS
After examining the natal promise and relevant Dasha periods, planetary transits may be considered for timing. KP practitioners commonly examine transiting planets through signs, Nakshatras and Sub-Lords and compare them with the relevant significators.
Transit is therefore examined together with the natal chart and operating periods rather than as a completely separate method.
13. KP HORARY / PRASHNA
KP Horary or Prashna Astrology can be used when a person asks a specific question at a particular moment. The chart for the relevant moment is then analysed using KP principles such as house cusps, significators, Sub-Lords and Ruling Planets.
Traditional KP Horary methods may also use a number-based approach within the KP framework.
14. KP ANALYSIS FOR DIFFERENT LIFE AREAS
- Marriage: 7th cusp, relevant significators and 2, 7, 11 houses.
- Career & Job: 10th cusp and relevant 2, 6, 10, 11 significators.
- Business: 2nd, 7th, 10th and 11th house connections.
- Education: Relevant 4th, 5th and 9th house connections.
- Children: 5th cusp and relevant 2, 5, 11 connections.
- Finance: 2nd and 11th house connections, together with other relevant houses.
- Property: 4th house and relevant supporting significators.
- Foreign Travel: Relevant 3rd, 9th and 12th house connections.
- Relationships: Relevant 5th, 7th and other supporting houses.
- Legal / Dispute Matters: Relevant 6th, 7th and 12th house connections are examined according to the question.
15. WHAT MAKES KP DIFFERENT?
KP Astrology places strong emphasis on fine divisions of the Nakshatra, particularly the Sub-Lord, and on analysing significators and house cusps. This provides a structured framework for examining specific questions and event timing.
